DescriptionThrough many generations of designs and technologies, signoff checklists have continued to grow longer, driven by both increasingly complex technology requirements and design learning. Designs can be faced with thousands of checklist items, with individual engineers responsible for answering tens or hundreds of items. This quickly leads to checklist fatigue, and can contend with active design work for attention, resulting in necessary reviews being delayed and insufficient attention being paid to important review items. This presentation details a series of systems that have been developed and combined to create a robust auditable connection between a candidate tapeout place-and-route database, automated checks and metrics, and the signoff checklist. This automation reduces burden on design teams, while also increasing accuracy of signoff auditing. Covered topics include database-unique “tagging”, collection and tag-connected storage of design metrics and check results, and automatic checklist item disposition based on connected audit results.
