DescriptionRecently, better-than-worst-case (BTWC) design has gained more and more attention because it can improve energy efficiency by exploiting the dynamic timing margin.
However, the existing dynamic timing analysis (DTA) tools have to add extra aging and variation guardbands, which is too pessimistic.
Therefore, in this paper, we propose AVATAR, an aging- and variation-aware dynamic timing analyzer and an application-based dynamic-voltage-accuracy-frequency-scaling (DVAFS) design flow based on AVATAR.
The results show that, compared with the conventional flow, the proposed DVAFS flow based on AVATAR can increase the performance by up to 14% or save the power by up to 20%.
