DescriptionTiming is a critical metric in design optimization tasks such as placement. Prior work on timing-driven global placement optimizes the timing objective using net weighting or net constraints, which are only indirect approximations to the actual timing objectives such as worst and total negative slacks (WNS/TNS). In this work, we propose to directly optimize WNS and TNS along with analytical placement objectives. Experimental results demonstrate promising performance improvements compared to state-of-the-art timing-driven placement works.
