Laleh Behjat is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Calgary. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo in Canada in 2002. Her research interests include developing mathematical programming and optimization techniques for solving large-scale optimization problems especially related to the physical design of integrated circuits. She has won several awards for her research, including first and second places in the ISPD placement contests in 2014 and 2015. She was the general chair for the ACM Great Lakes Symposium on Very Large-Scale Integration (GLSVLSI) and is an associate editor for the IEEE TCAD and ACM TODAES Journals. Dr. Behjat's other research interests include design, innovation, creativity and their relationship with diversity. She has conducted several workshops related to diversity and creativity. In 2015, she won third place in the Design Automation Perspective Challenge. She believes that interdisciplinary research is the key to performing innovative research
